Reset Updates | by Kevin Meyer
RESET. To set again; to adjust in a new or different way; to move (something) back to an original place or position.
In January 2021 after six months of prayer, focus groups, and surveys, we sensed God leading us to three “resets”: Name Change; Governance; and Staffing. Here’s a quick update on where we are with each of these “resets”.
Name Change: We engaged Brian Prentice, an experienced naming and branding professional, to lead us through a process involving focus group meetings. This process included name ideation tied to our vision and possibly key landmarks in our area. After discussion and evaluation, a set of proposed names would be given to the Leadership Board to prayerfully discuss, evaluate and then propose a name to the congregation. Currently, the Leadership Board has received a set of proposed names and is prayerfully asking the Lord’s guidance on the name to propose to the congregation.
Governance: At the June 2021 Congregational meeting the congregation voted to move to a Leadership Board comprised of both men and women. Currently, there is a godly woman who is aspiring and another one is prayerfully considering to aspire to the Leadership Board.
Staffing: In June 2021 we began an active search with our consultants for an Executive Pastor who would strategically implement our vision and develop our staff and leaders to fulfill the mission of our church. This process involved developing a candidate profile, finding qualified candidates, presenting and interviewing candidates and finally selecting and calling the candidate God is leading to be our Executive Pastor. The Leadership Board with the help of an Advisory Search Team have interviewed two potential candidates. We are in the final stages with one of those candidates. Please continue to pray for God’s will to be done.
I want to thank each of you for your prayer and participation in these three “resets”. We believe Jesus has set us in a direction to reach our community with the Gospel; to embrace and empower the emerging generations; and to do this together honoring one another, serving our community and bringing glory to our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus.
Bless you and thank you,
