Get off to a Good Start in 2020 | By Kevin Meyer

Start the year 2020 with spiritual momentum! Seek deeper intimacy with God that leads to deeper impact. Pray that God moves mightily in our midst as we enter this New Year and new decade.

“I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions…So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer…The hand of our God was on us…” – Ezra, a teacher well versed in God’s Word.

Start 2020 Reading God's Word Aloud: 2020 has been proclaimed the Year of the Bible. With this worldwide emphasis, we will be reading the entire Bible out loud in our sanctuary from January 5-8. As we conclude our Sunday Worship Service we will begin reading from Genesis and will finish reading the final book, chapter and verse of Revelation on Wednesday evening. Special guest Tanner Olson of Spoken Word will conclude our time of celebration.

Start 2020 Fasting for God's Presence: We encourage you to consider a spiritual fast during Sunday, 1/5 through Wednesday evening, 1/8. This fast can be from food, electronic devices or social media. On 12/29 I will introduce this ‘prayer, Bible reading and fast’ time with a short message on ‘making space’ in your life for God’s Spirit and Word.

Start 2020 Praying for God’s Good Hand to rest upon us: The January Sunday message series is titled “Prayer: Hungry for God”. Author and speaker Max Davis will speak on “Hearing God” on 1/12. Max has been on the Today Show, in USA Today, and the 700 Club sharing his story. Don’t miss it.

Commit to be a part of the 2020 start! May God give us a HUNGER for His Presence, His Spirit and His Word.

Commit to be a part of the 2020 start! Again and again in the Old Testament book of Ezra, this refrain appears: The good hand of our God was on us…giving protection, provision, peace, courage, guidance and answered prayers. May God give us a HUNGER for His Presence, His Spirit and His Word. Let’s boldly enter 2020 and release God’s work in and through us in this coming decade!
