Celebrate a Cross-cultural Thanksgiving | by Sai Wang
Eleven years ago on a Sunday morning, a few men and women at Wayzata Free welcomed two Chinese International students from the U of MN and gave them their very first Bible study. Little did they know, that study group continued to grow and has served hundreds of Chinese students for more than a decade.
A few months ago, again on a Sunday morning, an East Indian pastor was invited to Wayzata Free and felt led to bring his church plant here. On July 14, a few East Indian families had their very first worship service at Wayzata Free.
As David wrote, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,” we are called to count each blessing God has given us. This Thanksgiving, we will celebrate the multicultural communities that worship together at Wayzata Free. During the community hour on Sunday, November 24, we will serve a Thanksgiving lunch complete with Chinese cuisine, Indian cuisine and American turkey while sharing the stories of God’s blessings in our Chinese and Indian communities. Everyone is invited and no registration is required.
